Biography

Derek Eland was born in Cumbria and is an emerging contemporary landscape artist who has exhibited his work nationally. His work is increasingly focused on the intrusion of the built environment into our countryside, including the unstoppable growth of cities and towns. This is the central theme of his current MA in Contemporary Fine Art at the University of Cumbria. Derek has held a number of successful solo exhibitions and in 2007 his work was short-listed for the Celeste Art Prize. Derek was educated at the University of Durham and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
