My Feature
A collection of my handbuilt, smoke-fired pieces based on neolithic axe heads and bronze age daggers.
Biography
A recent addition to the Cumbrian arts scene, I graduated with a BA Contemporary Applied Arts from the Cumbria Institute of the Arts (now part of the Cumbria University) in 2007 and started out sharing a small studio and gallery space in the Artist's Courtyard, 101 Lake Rd, Ambleside. I have recently left there and am currently in the process of setting up a ceramic studio at home.
At first I concentrated on non-functional, handbuilt, smoke-fired objects inspired by ancient artefacts from the neolithic and bronze-age periods. But now I have extended my smoke-fired range and also branched out into a small amount of functional ware. One day, when I manage to gain access the equipment that I need, I hope to return to my more elaborately decorated and conceptual pieces using print and text.
