General Discussion

Ok folks, this is it. All content has been wiped including: forum posts / events / clash events / resources / news / reviews / opportunities / user profiles.

Do you think your art is driven by your gut feeling, your intuition or from a more intellectual point of view?

Is there an alternative to the word HUB?
It is becoming so over used, in a few months it will seem pretentious and passe,

If anyone can help out by volunteering to help FRED get installed, we'd be really grateful.

Hannah Stewart is co-ordinating and would love to hear from you. Her mobile number is: 07884 102194.

Some thread ideas off the top of my head:

Painting - it's rubbish and old. Why bother?

Installation - I'd like to buy one. How can I?

Hi

I am trying to contact artist Sarah Pike and wondered if you could pass on this message:

Hi Sarah

If you subscribe to Artists Newsletter and sign up for AIR they are launching a free PLI policy starting 1st November. Read all about it here:

Studios available at Farfield Mill Arts & Heritage Centre, Sedbergh, Cumbria

Stop Press: 2 studios becoming available in the new year!

I'm cominground to thinking Lowry one of the most significant artists of the last century. I'd take his version of existensialism over Giacometti's anyday.

This was quoted under a gallery entry hereabouts. I think it's dumb. If you don't have any interest in Art History then you are working in a longuage you can't understand.

Bear with me. I'm defining art as stuff like painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, installation. The kind of stuff in frieze or A-N.

I pass on this article written by Chris Young for discussion raising questions on how do artists overcome the problems involved in documenting and (re)presenting process based work for a secondary aud

Dear Cumbria Network people,

This is not an art talk post - I hope I'm not intruding.

Cumbric.net is a new discussion board for communities and groups in Cumbria and beyond.

How was it? I did a bit of work for them a few days ago,

I just acquired the new Taschen book on L Freud and have been reminded how inspiring his work is. I'm a sculptor and can't paint for toffee but his stuff makes me wish I could.

Today I was invited to call at Carnforth Postal Sorting Office to retrieve a 'package' because insufficient postage had been paid.

There's a thread about people making it to openings and other art events in cumbria hereabouts and it set me thinking about openings.

Hello everyone, us peeps in the Carlisle Hub are having an exhibition which opens tomorrow night (Thursday 6th Dec) and suns until the 14th.

In July we are hopefully going to the states (friends weddings family and all that.)

My Art is always well recieved.. I have the skills, knowledge and ability to do what I do! My ART is NOT DISABLED! Yet!

It's something that I've never found an answer for.... Any one else know WHY?

Hello

Hi do any of you know of a good Polymer Clay; I already know of New Clay (the one with the fiberglass particals mixed in) But I don't find it stands the test of time.

Now the lighter nights and better weather (Hopfully)is on it's way.
Who would definetly be interested in joining a Life Drawing Group, here in Silloth?
