TALKS ON ART - series 5

In this series we are concentrating on all things Cumbrian for no particular reason other than I thought it would be interesting.

We kick off on the 17 June with Northern Art Prize winner Karen Guthrie, she will be talking about her collaborative practice with Nina Pope and her independent projects. If you want a bit of insight into how to be successful whilst living a fair distance from lots of other art folks this is a lady you must come and see.

On the 1st July we retain something of a rural theme with Steve Messam, founder of FRED in Cumbria and an artist in his own right. Steve will be talking about his large outdoor interventions, the influence of Chinese garden design and the challenges of scale.

The final talk in the series is by LITTORAL, a non-profit arts trust, currently involved in a project to promote the life and work of Kirk Schwitters, in particular his later years spent in the Lakes. They will be talking about this, other projects and future plans to acquire the site of the original Merz Barn at Elterwater, as a memorial to the artist.

Tickets cost £2. Please pre-book by calling 01524 844133 or emailing suzy(at)storeygallery.org.uk
