I like the wheelie bin.I

I like the wheelie bin.

I have had two parking tickets.. both of which I protest my innocence!! Well at least one of them...

The first I forgot to take off my disc thing which was next to my parking permit. The traffic warden did me even though my permit was visible. I appealed, but the council had no time to even check that they'd issued a permit to my car!! Innocent I tell you!

The second was this weekend in a village in Yorkshire. I think I probably deserved it as I'd been parking on this single yellow for years as its the only spot you can park if you are only stopping for 10 minutes as the only car park is all day for £4. Anyway this time I was unlucky and in the 10 minutes I was away from my car I got a ticket! I think I'm still better off though as I would have shelled out over £100 if used the £4 car park each time.

I did actually. I liked it.

I did actually. I liked it. I'm amazed that you found so many people to hand out to.

To be honest I don't have a problem with parking restrictions as it's a way that society regulates itself dispassionatly, at tleast in theory.

What hacs me off is people who park on double yellows to pop to the bank or to buy a pint of milk and get done. "But I was only in for a minute" they cry. "Tough, you took the risk knowingly" I would laughingly respond, were I in a position to do this. I speak as someone with no parking convictions, but with with 6 points on his licence, which I deserved.

Actually, its not so much the parking restrictions themselves that is the problem - its just another system Penrith councillors have imposed on the town that are helping to suffocate it as a vibrant and unique market town. It has bucket loads of potential but unfortunately they don't seem to have any clue as far as marketing it and bringing people there - end result is a dead town and miserable people.....

Hopefully it will be a fun way of raising this issue........
