Arts festival: David and Nick – moving into third year, bank holiday weekend of may, more planned in events. More city centre stuff, maybe bigger. Team of students laying foundations. Need proposals by January 24th. Programme to be printed over easter. Know we have Tullie House, Tythe Barn, No green room, bank gallery and other venues as and when, also the source. Want work in City Centre. Access to Paternoster Row. Posters, publicity etc. Inviting proposals for design of programme, website etc Meeting Thursday afternoons with team of students 4-6. No proposal form as yet. Security for public art works in town needs to be looked into. Open to any suggestions for proposals as long as realistic for funding. Another debate – a year on, where are we now? Proposals to be David Imrie (david.imrie [at] cumbria [dot] ac [dot] uk) and other areas to any organizers. University covered public liability last year – need to check this time. Council bunch of robbers !?! Follow up at next meeting.

Mailing list: Art auction (aargh!) 1st December, tullie house. As hub, compiling mailing list of people who would potentially buy art. Assett for hub – to be used for and after auction. Some is together already. When to get together and stick things on envelopes? To be delegated. Rich can’t spell December – don’t trust him! Rich has made invited for auction. Myspace and facbook for hub have been set up, for images etc to be added, email jen (jenmartin46 [at] hotmail [dot] com) . Mailing list does exist!

Bank Gallery: Should be okay, 7th December ish. Invite to be given out at auction. Bank have proposal system in place, amfine05 [at] gmail [dot] com for the form. All in digital format. Looking for idea of media, scale, concept etc. Gaps available but pending proposals so flexible schedule. Ish. Room for shows before Christmas.

Christmas Interventions: Pass The Parcel (Jen and Jay) Storey Gallery call for interest. Student body proposals for two Christmas grottos to be built in the gallery. Will be on the gallery website.

Blake day: 26-28th November at source (28th), music, poetry, fashion show. Visual things happening – working with bank gallery maybe. Paul Taylor doodles of tigers will be blown up. Something to go with these? Generalization is for idiots. (does that apply to minute taking?) Puppet show. Scary? Maybe in the Bank except minors not allowed. Pub policy rather than Bank policy. Bank to run past pub and check. Marketing – nice thing to put in gallery - different angle, maybe talks etc. Proposal form to be sent. Answer to be given by end of week.

MAP event: march? Thinking of doing one night performance event, possibly in source. Collaboration with group from Manchester. Could anything happen at similar time? 12th-16th march? Easter on 23rd. Maye not all performance – more along fine art lines? More to talk about in next meeting.

Logo/Invites/Facebook: Facebook is working, invites are out. Rendering of logo, Carlisle hub for volunteers, can we change name to be more relevant and people won’t confuse us? Carlisle Arts Hub? No Hubabuba! Creatives Hub? Arts better than creatives? To be Carlisle Arts Hub! Hannah the logo machine will get to work! Ownership of word? Could we get trademark? Where can we find out. Next meeting can make sure of something. Anyone to look into? Is everyone okay with Carlisle Arts Hub? Objections allowed! Logo, font to be changed on ‘Carlisle’ .

Minibitions at Eleventh Hour: Rich is no longer there, Hannah not really involved, Sharon bellydancing. Need to find out about.

Text messages for covention type things: get people to go somewhere and do something. Art invasions. Mobile could be set up, on a string? Phone tree? 1enny to draw one up. Plain air painting on casle lawn. Rats in station and costa.

What shall we get Fred Walker for Christmas: City centre organization dude. Christmas card from the hub – bring along to next meeting, Christmas hamper, everyone brings one piece in. Hannah to make scale model of bandstand! Remider to be sent out for everyone to bring something good.

Sheep invasion: City of culture – thing here to coincide. Sheep in city centre. Anti – Liverpool action, with sheep!! Sheep speed dating? Dosent have to be sheep! Or animals at all…. Any kind of work towards would be good. Capital of culture website from more info.

Cumbria Network: hub is part of this and has a new website with good forum. Forum for Carlisle hub, has been used as discussion space. Minutes posted etc. www.thecumbrianetwork.co.uk, we are the north hub.

Reflection on Hub: what works, what dosent work, meeting much bigger! Biggest for roughly six months! Awareness growing from work done closely. Facebook has helped. Postcard to be made up, especially now we have a logo. Now on live feeds from council. ‘Whats on’ kind of thing. Hopefully get into Focus on Cumbria… Some people using it to get involved with Carlisle arts scene after degree. New emails to be added for minutes mailing list. Add kate Wise again. Money set aside for us if we need to do work. 137 pounds!! Hub has email now carlislehub [at] hotmail [dot] co [dot] uk if anyone needs information. Keep bugging university for funds etc. maybe add to mailing list. Are we the only real artists in Carlisle? Are the rest like ghosts? Do we do this for benefit of the arts, or for where we live and the area? More in Carlisle the better. Mud wrestling with chocolate pudding. With performing arts? Nick is student-bashing. Lets get him! Future – talking about different ways of engaging a wider audience. Mailing list etc.
