Ceramic work varies in size, colour, shape and surface quality. In particular the surface can be very textured like rakku or have a deep reflective glaze.
Each piece therefore requires particular methods of lighting to bring out the best from the work. One ceramic piece may require soft, even lighting while another may need a harder directional light to play on surface texture. Backlighting some pieces can highlight form and shape whilst use of well placed reflectors can show the surface and colours in a true and creative manner.
