This image is part of my Art Exhibition called Sweet Dreams. Sweet Dreams has 24 full format images and was my response to racial abuse against women wearing the niqab at the height of the Veils Row in Britain in 2006. I was awarded an Arts Council Grant to research and develop this project. The Exhibition does not argue for or against the niqab but attempts to show the individual behind the veil. I feel that when people are seen as one homogenous group racism as described above can be more prevalent. This image should be included as a celebration of diversity which I am sure Cumbria wishes to embrace.
