Original Medium Landart installation

Part of the FRED 07 art in the landscape festival,an elliptical trench, 10m wide and 80m long, 90m off shore was dug in the estuary at Blackstone Point opposite Grange over Sands. On an east/west axis, the trench was filled by the incoming tide and when uncovered, reflected the light as a full circle.

This photo was taken the morning after the dig. Full Circle remained visible for a week, surviving the tides, becoming more and more eroded yet holding its trace in the sand.

I think this is a good photo that would survive printing in the calendar. Its a subtle image and speaks of the process of making art, the passage of time, finality and the structural fix that has us all pinned within our existence. On immediate viewing it looks like a simple landscape photo of the estuary, yet it's meaning comes from a slower look.
