Biography
Anita Burrows’ work ranges from the traditional skills of painting, drawing, printmaking to photography and digital media. Anita also works collaboratively with people and is interested in the way art can be used in the regeneration of urban communities. Her practice is grounded in socially engaging the residents and adopting strategies to gain trust, and thus enabling the participants to contribute to the developing agenda of the project.
Anita has recently been awarded an MPhil for her research into the social engagement of residents and regeneration and as part of this research produced a CD-ROM. The CD has been used as a strategy for disseminating information about this genre of art practice.
She has recently been involved in evaluating the project ’Talking Shop’ which has explored independent shops and regeneration in Pennine Lancashire. Anita is also leading art events for the Bowland Arts Festival in June 2008, she will be accompanying walkers to the Clarion Tea Room in Newchurch and recording local stories regarding the history of the Clarion and walking in Pendle.
