NAN Go See Bursary application
The South Lakes Hub has submitted an application for a NAN Go See Bursary from a-n so we can visit the Berlin Biennale next year in May.
Our project aims
First Phase
To make links with artists and artists groups in Berlin.
To visit the Berlin Biennale 2008.
To support and make connections with the Haushoch, 11. Himmel collective.
To research the potential for future residency exchanges between Cumbria & North Lancashire and Berlin.
To research ideas for work based on our stay in Berlin.
Second Phase
To stage a group exhibition of work based on our stay in Berlin.
To receive artwork from invited artists in Berlin to be included in the group exhibition.
To research and establish residency/exchange opportunities between Cumbria and North Lancashire and Berlin artists.
Who we want to visit and why
We plan to visit Berlin to experience the Biennale in 2008 in order to stimulate ideas for future Hub actions and events and individual projects and to enable us to make direct connections with artists groups in Berlin with whom we may wish to negotiate future international collaborations, events, actions and initiatives.
We plan to support the Berlin Haushoch 11. Himmel, a collective-run hotel/accommodation project run by the local residents of the Marzahn district in Berlin (http://www.pension-11himmel.de) by reserving accommodation with them for the group. Accommodation in the Haushoch is only 11 Euro per person per night.
We are currently in process of making connections with a variety of individual artists and artists’ studio groups in Berlin with whom we may wish to pursue future collaborations in order to meet our project objectives.

We have yet to hear whether we are successful, so wish us luck!

That looks brilliant. Can
That looks brilliant. Can anyone get involved or is it just for members of the south lakes HUB?
The initial phase will be
The initial phase will be for south lakes hubsters because of the limited funding by a-n but what we hope to develop from it (future residence/exchange opportunities etc) should be available to all networkers because we will need to include Cumbria-wide resources once we get going. Studio groups will be an important part of residencies and exchanges if we can get this thing off the ground and into the air.
As soon as we know how the NAN bid has got on, I'll post the result.
