Hub Meeting Minutes 08/11/2007
Present: Jen Martin, Rich Webster, Tony Mason, Hannah Stewart, Ben Wohl (& Skye), Morgan ?, Adam Fine.
Apologies: Kat, Di Clay, Bank gallery?
Agenda: Art Auction Mailing Lists, Invites, Hub Involvement in Auction Expectations and Hub Logo
Mailing List: Emails so far for hotels and dentists, solicitors, architects. Auction already in Tullie House publication. Rich has posters, call for artists, invitation etc. Can also use tullie house logo and database. Hub supporting art auction. Maybe offer discount to businesses, offer free drinks with tickets. Would this be cheapening the event?
Invites: Auction on 1st December. Tony has poster and flyers, Panchos will be giving out. Tullie house has posters up. All lots to be sumitted before actual event. Put onto Cumbria and Lancashire network. First come first served – first 120 to be submitted (100 with 20 reserves). Information to be submitted with work for auctioneers to talk about. Quality control may be an issue. Tony is working 4 1/2 days a week – not much spare time. What has happened to selection process? Could have too many awful submissions. Guidelines for submission – send round list rich has on contract. Did Bank Gallery agree to show overflow of submissions? Money raised to pay for Tullie House etc.

Auction has nothing to do with hub.
When did posters and flyers come about? Everything is happening but not in the way which was originally decided. Invitations: maybe just via email? Invitation from Hub saying about Hub artists which will be showing in the auction rather than advertising the auction specifically. Maybe thumbnails etc. Maybe just examples of work by that artist. Mailing list still to go ahead.
Pagers on chickens (for freerange rather than hub) contact number for the hub? Maybe a phone on a string we can throw around. Jen to sort out facebook and myspace. Maybe cumbria network profile?
Is Bank able to host exhibition and did they even agree in the first place? Have people just assumed they will? Will assume not for now – will need a proper proposal and to apply properly rather than assuming. Maybe host at Eleventh Hour?
Lay down the law with quality of submissions – framing etc.
Rich to do Call for Artists by merging his and Tony’s poster ideas. Adam to put together.
Hannah is sick of being slagged off by drink men with attitude problems (not Ben).
Rich to be there on the day for paperwork etc.

If there are two or three hub members anywhere in town there is automatically an art centre (all in the name of art!) according to Rich.
Hub Logo: coffee stain or wine stain. Comic sans MS font? Clean and rounded at the edges. To be known as Carlisle hub, no buh’s allowed. Coffee stain? Relevant to meeting point.
Adam can get things on Transmission Gallery mailout. Would need about 350-400 A6 size.
Invite Bruce and Maggie Mooney.
Get a Christmas present for Fred Walker. Maybe some art? 1/5 scale model of the bandstand for his garden? Wine and chocolates? Fred bread.
Hub bread!!! Hub Mulled Wine? Artist spice (essence of expanding foam)
Hannah to do invitations?
Whisky in coffee is good for moulding. Adam is adamant. (sic)

when the minutes say that the art auction has been put on the cumbria network... where exactly? i can't find it...
