Heritage Fair

The Beacon will once again be welcoming local and family history enthusiasts this September with its third Heritage Fair. The event, which has been going from strength to strength, will now span a full week and will involve talks on many aspects of local history, a one day Local History Fair and a weekend of role play sketches with costumed Victorians.

“Industrial Whitehaven”, presentation by West Cumbria Mines Research Group.

Tues 9th September 1pm to 4pm Free Entry
“Access To Archaeology” with Lake District National Park Authority

Tues 9th September 7.30pm £2
“The History of The Whitehaven News”, presentation by a representative of The Whitehaven News.

Weds 10th September 7.30pm £2
“History of The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway” presentation by Peter Van Zeller of The Ravenglass Railway Museum.

Thurs 11th September 7.30pm £2
“An Introduction To Family History”, by Cumbria Record Office

Fri 12th September 12.30pm £2
“Update On the Cumbria Coastal Heritage Path”, presentation by the Land Restoration Trust.

Sat 13th September 10am to 4pm.
Local History Fair Free Entry

Sat 13th & Sun 14th September throughout the day
Costumed Victorian role play sketches. Normal museum admission applies.
