Culture, Mind and Modernity offers an innovative, inter-disciplinary, unique and highly successful degree in cultural studies, an exciting new discipline emerging at the meeting point of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Ideal for students with enquiring minds, Culture, Mind and Modernity covers a wide range of subjects including culture and society, minds and bodies, gender and sexuality, the city, religion, the media, colonialism and post-colonialism, and power, politics and ideology.
Students will develop critical awareness and research skills, and have the opportunity to gain experience in the use of media technologies.

Modules:
The programme consists of compulsory core modules and a selection of option modules.
- Core Modules include Modernity and the City; Cultural Theory; Research Methods and, in the third year, a Dissertation or Project.
- Option Modules are arranged in five fields:
Literature and Art; Language, Politics and Society;
Philosophy, Religion and Ethics; Popular Culture & Media;
Turbulent Texts (Abject Voices & Cultures of Desire).

It is available full-time over 3 years, or part-time over a maximum of 5 years.
The degree is awarded by Liverpool John Moores University

Career prospects
Cultural Studies degrees have good track records for graduate employment in a wide variety of careers including teaching, tourism, journalism, the arts, media and communications, advertising, museums and galleries, public and social services. Graduates will also be equipped for post-graduate study.
