CREATIVE WORKSHOPS IN PENRITH

Eden Arts is running two days of creative workshops with artists Karen MacDougall and poet Ann Wilson at Penrith & Eden Museum on Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 August in association with the exhibition of prints and poems by Antoni Tapies and Joan Brossa: POEMS FROM THE CATALAN which will run 2 - 31 August at both Penrith Town Hall and the Museum (more details of exhibition later).

Brossa’s poetry is a strong visual language, while Tàpies incorporates text and symbols in his works and the workshops aim to take a collaborative approach to express participants' artistic voices as individuals and as a group through text, language and image.

During the workshop you'll look at: • Mixing words and images to express a poignant message • Expressing identity through words and images • Having fun with language, poetic forms and images

Interpret the exhibition and see how politics affect art - focus on slogans … and create your own installation in response to the exhibition, under the title 'Hanging out your washing in public…'

Price: £20 for two days or £15 for one. PLACES LIMITED - BOOK NOW on 01768 899444 or email enquiries [at] edenarts [dot] co [dot] uk

Date of Event: 12 August 2008 - 14 August 2008
